More about me

Perryville trip, spring 2010

I'm Richard McCormick, a life-long Civil War enthusiast who entered the world of the blog-o-sphere in June 2009, with My Civil War Obsession, a blog about anything and everything that caught my attention about the Civil War.

I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in history.

In 2006, I joined the James A Ramage Civil War Museum  as a volunteer. I was honored to join the museum's Board of Directors in 2008 and served as Vice-President in 2009 and President in 2010. I really enjoy this experience, interacting with museum visitors and other volunteers and getting to have influence on the operations of a museum. It is really cool and has been a great experience for me.

I really enjoy being in old cemeteries and though I did not do much work this summer hunting down Civil War headstones, this fall has seen a reversal of that, so I thought I'd start a second blog to focus  solely on this category of Civil War information, and to have one place where all my research could be stored.
